Work Permits

During the summer window of June 6th - August 4th, work permits will be issued by appointment only at the William S. Hart Union High School District office. Work permit appointments will be available Tuesday and Wednesday from 9-12 pm and Thursday, 1-4 pm. We will not issue work permits on July 4th. The appointments are 15 minutes and can be made by emailing [email protected]hartdistrict.org.
 
Steps to Obtaining a Work Permit - Summer ONLY
 
Step 1: Secure Employment
Students need to secure a job before obtaining a work permit.
 
Step 2: Download the work permit application linked HERE. 
 
Step 3: Complete the work permit application:
1. Students are to complete the sections "Minor's Information" and "School Information."
2. Employers are to complete the section "For Employer to Complete" - print and sign their name.
3. Parents/guardians are required to sign the form for knowledge and consent.
 
Step 4: Email [email protected]org that you are requesting a work permit. The auto-reply message will give instructions on how to set up an appointment. You must have an appointment. The appointment will be at the William S. Hart Union High School District office. 21380 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita, CA 91350. Please let the receptionist know that you are here for a work permit when you arrive. Please remember to bring your ID.
 
Any work permits issued after June 6, 2023, will expire on August 31, 2024. 
STEPS TO OBTAIN A WORK PERMIT

Please be sure you complete the following steps in order:
 
STEP 1: Secure Employment

STEP 2: Download the Work Permit Application Below
 
STEP 3: Complete the Work Permit Application:
  1. Students are to complete the section “Minor’s Information”
  2. Employers are to complete the section “For Employer to Complete” then print and sign their name.
  3. Parents/guardians are required to sign the form for knowledge and consent.
STEP 4: Drop Off Your Completed Application at Castaic High School in the Main Office
Please allow 48-72 hours processing time once the application is submitted. 
 
STEP 5: Call Ahead
Once the waiting period has passed, please call the school to confirm your work permit is ready for pick-up 661-888-6288. 
 
STEP 6: Picking Up Your Work Permit
The student must present school identification when picking up the completed permit. Additionally, the student is required to sign the work permit upon issuance, therefore they must be present.
