DESCRIPTION This dynamic, project-based course combines all levels of Publications & Media into a single collaborative class where students create professional-quality print and digital media, including the school yearbook, social media content, and multimedia storytelling. Students will learn and apply skills in photography, writing, graphic design, and digital imaging using industry-standard tools such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and other media software. Beginners will build a strong foundation in media production and design, exploring photography, video, reporting, and layout for both print and digital platforms. Intermediate and advanced students will take on greater responsibilities—leading teams, planning coverage, managing production schedules, and editing content—while mentoring newer staff members. All students will contribute to every stage of publication, from concept development and reporting to marketing, advertising, and public relations. The class operates as a real-world media staff, requiring both independent initiative and effective teamwork to meet strict deadlines. Students will have opportunities to attend workshops, enter state and national competitions, and develop career-ready skills in Arts, Media, and Entertainment. Advanced students serve in leadership and editorial roles, peer coach their classmates, and oversee the creative and technical direction of the publication, making this a capstone experience in student media. All equipment is provided for student use. |
