Coach Eric Johnson is a Santa Clarita native, and attended Canyon High School where he lettered in Football and Track. After graduating, Coach Johnson competed in Track and Field at the Division 1 level at Cal Poly. His attitude, academic achievements, and athletic prowess saw him named captain of his track team.
After graduating, Coach Johnson was invited to assist with the sprints group at Canyon, to determine whether he was suited for a career in coaching. He instantly formed a special bond with his athletes, pushing them on and off the track and quickly found that helping students achieve their goals was his true calling.
Coach Johnson spent the past nine years as the full time head coach of the boys and girls sprints group at the varsity, junior varsity, and frosh- soph levels at Canyon High School. While at Canyon, Coach Johnson won nine Foothill League championships.
Throughout his career, Coach Johnson learned from highly decorated coaches such as Canyon High School legends Paul Broneer and Dave Delong; as well as Olympic standout Denean Hill.
He brings with him a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and a steadfast motivation to see his student athletes succeed. Coach Johnson is extremely excited to bring that winning tradition to Castaic and build this program from the ground up.
